Today I launched the first episode of the Thinking Health podcast featuring my friend Eric Anderson. Eric is someone I met through a friend while living out in Austin, Texas. He is the creator of the Ocean Lab which is a sensory deprivation or float therapy facility that by far offers the best experience in the business.
I had my first experience with float therapy a few years ago and it was a transformative experience. I was able to access creative thoughts more simply, I was able to relax and unplug in ways I’ve never been able to, and I walked out with a type of clarity that I have never experienced. I have been a big fan of float therapy ever since.
When you are inside of a float chamber, all of your senses are essentially removed. You are floating in salty water that is the same temperature as your skin and if you choose, there is no light or sound. This removing of the senses allows your brain a greater ability to think undistractedly which is now being shown to have a pretty profound impact on many different areas of human health.
In this episode, Eric and I talk go in-depth on what float therapy is, what it can be used for, our own personal experiences, and what the science says about this unique therapy. Eric is also a low carb endurance athlete which of course came up during our conversation!
If you enjoy this episode, please give it a share and subscribe to the Thinking Health Podcast. There are some exciting episodes coming out in the next coming weeks!
Thanks for reading (and hopefully listening),
