Compromising is important in many areas of our lives. It’s something we frequently have to do with our partners, our kids, our friends, our job, and most aspects of our life where maintaining sustainable healthy relationships is important.
In a way, you could say that small compromises are a good thing.
But not always.
Sometimes compromising can mean being a pushover. More importantly, it can mean giving in to things we shouldn’t which can be damaging to our morale, our character, and our goals.
Making compromises when it comes to your health is one of these bad versions of compromise because when we make small compromises on our health we are more susceptible to completely losing control of our health.
Anyone who has experienced poor health knows that it wasn't a single decision that got them there. It was the small compromises that continued to stack up and spiral out of control. You start by opting for that quick fast-food breakfast every morning because it tastes great and you deserve it. Next thing you know you’re ordering a Coke at 7 in the morning to drink with that fast-food breakfast. Slowly this leads to more and more poor health decisions that eventually result in chronic disease or a general low feeling of wellness.
Small compromises can also be damaging when we are on the path to restoring our health. We decide one day to snooze that alarm and skip that morning Peloton ride and next thing you know you have a subscription coat rack sitting in your office. We decide to eat that pint of ice cream because we reached our weight loss goal and 12 full-size pizzas later we hate ourselves. We’ve all been there.
Small compromises can simply be derailing at any stage of our health journey.
This isn’t to say that we should never take a rest day or enjoy a cheat meal. Perfection is not required when it comes to being healthy.
The point is that we have to know that seemingly small compromises when it comes to our health put us at risk of losing control of our health so we should be strategic about when we make these compromises and be quick to catch ourselves when we do and get the train back on the tracks.

P.S. This newsletter is sponsored by my favorite CBD company Santa Cruz Medicinals. I am a huge fan of Santa Cruz Medicinals because of their wide variety of products that can be used for different goals. Besides the MCT CBD oil and CBD coconut oil, I mostly use their calm caps and sleep caps. Check out this personal study on their sleep caps!
This is really good. This week I’ve started running 1.5 miles in my neighborhood every morning. Feel so much better during the day at my sit down desk job. Each day it’s a choice to choose good or bad things for my health!
